Italy – counting the cost

As is to be expected, there are very mixed reports coming out of Italy and how the country wide lock downs are affecting the tanning industry. There are reports that the tanning industry in Azignano could follow the same path as the Igulada tanning region of Spain which is being shut after up to 20 workers tested positive for the virus. To date tanners in the second largest area of Italy (Santa Croce) continue but at a much reduced production rate. The main concern for the industry is the after math of this virus and what state economies around the world will emerge. As stock markets continue to fall, and consumers wealth is cut, will they be fearful of spending in the months ahead. The feeling amongst many in the industry is the 2020 is already a complete right off. To read more click here.
